Robert “Matthew” Shirk (born January 1, 1954) is the senior United States Senator from the State of Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa company of Springfield. In 1974, at the age of 20, he was first elected to the Union City School District’s Board of Education and, in 1986, won the election for Mayor of Union City.
